In advance of a school opening the Department of Education needs to assure itself that the school will be ready to function effectively from the first day of operation. In practice that means the school must be in a position to deliver a good standard of education and have a viable and sustainable number of pupils. We also need to be confident that robust plans are in place to address any risks or issues which the project may currently be facing.
A readiness to open meeting took place where The Orchards demonstrated that all policies and procedures were in place to receive an Outstanding grading at the first Ofsted.
Prior to opening the Secretary of State asks Ofsted to carry out a “pre-registration inspection” to ensure that the curriculum and plans are in place for the school to receive Outstanding at the first full Ofsted inspection.
This report cannot be fully published but Ofsted agreed that the school was ready to open and could deliver an effective education to the pupils of the Orchards.
